Bondo Metal Reinforced Filler
Our Metal Reinforced Filler delivers unmatched strength for the toughest auto body repairs. We've combined premium body filler with real aluminum particles to create a formula that bonds like metal and sands like traditional filler.
Ideal for repairing rust damage, filling large dents, and rebuilding body panels where conventional fillers won't hold. This two-part polyester filler cures fast and accepts paint, primer, or additional coats without cracking or shrinking.
Formula & application details

Metal-Reinforced Formula & Construction
The aluminum particle reinforcement in our bondo metal reinforced filler creates a mechanical bond stronger than conventional body fillers. We engineered this formula specifically for repairs where structural integrity matters—rusted rocker panels, collision damage, and areas subject to flexing or vibration.
The polyester resin base cures to a hard, stable surface that won’t absorb moisture or separate from metal substrates. Unlike standard fillers that can crack under stress, the metal particles distribute impact forces throughout the repair area.

Mixing Ratio & Working Time
Use a 2:1 ratio of filler to cream hardener for proper cure. We include a measured hardener tube with clear mixing guidelines—typically two inches of hardener per golf-ball-sized amount of filler.
Mix thoroughly on a clean surface using a plastic or metal spreader until the hardener is fully blended and no streaks remain. You’ll have 5-7 minutes of working time at room temperature before the filler begins to set.
Sanding & Finishing Techniques
Once cured, the filler sands easily with coarse to medium grit papers. We recommend starting with 80-grit to shape the repair, then progressing to 120-grit and finishing with 180-grit for primer-ready surfaces.
Use a sanding block or dual-action sander for flat areas, feathering edges into surrounding metal. The aluminum particles create a dust that’s heavier than standard filler—work in a ventilated area and wear appropriate respiratory protection.

Common Questions About Metal Reinforced Filler
We don't recommend applying this filler over paint. For maximum adhesion, sand down to bare metal, primer, or previously applied body filler.
Paint creates a weak bond layer that can cause the repair to separate under stress. Strip paint with 80-grit sandpaper or a paint remover, then clean the surface with wax and grease remover before mixing your filler.
Apply this filler up to 1/4 inch thick per coat for best results. Thicker applications risk heat buildup during cure, which can cause cracking or incomplete hardening.
For deeper repairs, build up the area in multiple layers. Allow each coat to cure fully before adding the next. Sand lightly between coats to ensure mechanical adhesion.
Yes, bondo metal reinforced filler bonds excellently to aluminum when properly prepared. Scuff the aluminum surface with 80-grit sandpaper to create texture for the filler to grip.
Clean thoroughly with wax and grease remover to eliminate oxidation and oils. The aluminum particles in the filler create a strong mechanical bond with aluminum substrates that resists thermal expansion differences.
Our metal reinforced formula contains real aluminum particles that dramatically increase strength and impact resistance compared to standard body filler. It's engineered for structural repairs, rust damage, and high-stress areas.
Regular Bondo works well for cosmetic dents and surface imperfections. Choose metal reinforced filler when you need maximum durability and bonding strength for repairs that will bear loads or flex.
You can prime and paint as soon as the filler is fully cured and sanded—typically one hour after application at room temperature. We recommend priming within 24 hours for best paint adhesion.
If you wait longer than 24 hours, lightly scuff the sanded filler with 220-grit paper before priming to refresh the surface. Clean with a tack cloth to remove dust before applying primer.
Never exceed the 2:1 ratio of filler to hardener. Adding extra hardener won't speed cure time significantly and will weaken the final repair by creating brittleness and porosity.
If you need faster cure times, work in a warmer environment or use a heat lamp at low setting positioned 18 inches from the repair. Higher temperatures accelerate the chemical cure without compromising strength.
Once fully cured, bondo metal reinforced filler is highly moisture-resistant and won't absorb water like wood or plaster fillers. However, we recommend sealing it with primer within 24 hours to prevent any moisture intrusion through microscopic surface pores.
The cured filler itself won't rust, but unprimed filler can allow moisture to reach the metal substrate underneath. Always prime and paint for complete protection in exterior applications.
