Green Bondo Body Filler
Our Green Bondo Body Filler combines the trusted performance of original Bondo with a distinctive green tint that makes application visible and precise. Formulated for easy sanding and feathering, this professional-grade filler bonds to multiple surfaces including metal, fiberglass, and wood.
The green colorant allows you to see exactly where product has been applied, eliminating guesswork during repair work. Whether you're restoring classic cars, repairing collision damage, or tackling DIY home projects, this versatile filler delivers smooth, reliable results that sand and prime beautifully.

Green Tint Technology & Application Benefits
The signature green color in this body filler serves a critical functional purpose beyond aesthetics. When working on bare metal or gray primer, the vibrant green tint creates instant visual contrast that helps you track coverage, identify thin spots, and ensure complete repair area saturation.
This visual advantage reduces material waste and application errors common with traditional flesh-toned fillers. The green bondo formula maintains the same chemical composition and performance characteristics as our original product while adding this practical color indicator. Once sanded and primed, the green disappears completely under your topcoat system.

Mixing & Curing Instructions
Proper Hardener Ratio
Mix green bondo with the included cream hardener using a golf-ball-sized ribbon of hardener per softball-sized dollop of filler. Always dispense filler and hardener onto a clean, non-porous mixing board—never mix directly in the container.
Working Time & Temperature
At 70°F, you’ll have 5-7 minutes of working time before the mixture begins to set. The filler reaches sandable hardness in 20-25 minutes under these conditions. Higher temperatures accelerate cure time, while cooler environments extend working time. Never add extra hardener to speed curing, as this weakens the repair and causes brittleness.
Sanding & Finishing Techniques
Begin sanding when the filler feels firm but still slightly warm—typically 20-30 minutes after application. Start with 80-grit sandpaper to knock down high spots and shape the repair profile. The easy-sand formula cuts cleanly without clogging paper or loading tools.
Progress through 120-grit and 180-grit to refine the surface and feather edges into surrounding material. For automotive applications, finish with 220-grit before applying primer-surfacer. The green color remains visible through initial sanding stages, helping you identify low spots that need additional filler.

Common Questions About Green Bondo Body Filler
No, the green tint is designed to be visible only during application and initial sanding stages. Once you sand to final grit (typically 180-220) and apply primer-surfacer, the color is completely sealed and invisible.
The green pigment is concentrated enough to provide working contrast but light enough to disappear under standard automotive and industrial coating systems. Multiple coats of primer and paint ensure zero color bleed-through.
Green Bondo has identical physical properties to our original body filler—same strength, flexibility, and sanding characteristics. The only difference is the addition of green pigment for visibility.
Both formulas use the same polyester resin base, cure at the same rate, and achieve the same hardness when mixed with proper hardener ratios. You can use them interchangeably based on visibility preference for your specific substrate.
While physically possible, we don't recommend mixing different filler colors as it creates inconsistent tint that defeats the visibility purpose of green bondo. Each formula should be mixed only with its included cream hardener and applied separately.
If you need to apply additional filler over a previous repair, you can layer green over original or vice versa without issue. Just ensure each layer is properly cured and sanded before adding more material.
Maximum recommended thickness is 1/4 inch per application. Thicker applications trap solvents, generate excessive cure heat, and increase shrinkage and cracking risk.
For deeper repairs, build up filler in multiple 1/4-inch layers, allowing each to fully cure and sanding between applications. For repairs deeper than 1/2 inch total, consider using our Metal Reinforced Filler or Fiberglass Resin for the base layers, then finish with green bondo for final surface shaping.
Opened containers typically maintain full performance for 12-18 months when properly resealed. Press plastic film against the filler surface before replacing the lid to minimize air exposure and prevent skinning.
Store in a cool, dry location away from heat sources. If a thin skin forms on top, simply remove and discard it—the material underneath remains usable. The filler has expired if it becomes overly thick, won't mix smoothly with hardener, or shows signs of separation.
Green bondo is formulated for rigid substrates like metal, fiberglass, and wood. For flexible plastic bumpers and trim, use our dedicated Bondo Flexible Filler, which contains elastomers that bend with the substrate.
Standard body filler applied to flexible plastics will crack under normal flexing. Always match your filler to the substrate flexibility—rigid fillers for metal and fiberglass, flexible formulas for thermoplastic bumpers and trim panels.
No special primer is required—green bondo accepts all standard automotive primers, epoxy primers, and primer-surfacers. We recommend a high-build primer-surfacer for best results, as it fills minor sanding scratches and provides excellent paint adhesion.
Allow the filler to cure completely (minimum 30 minutes, longer in cool temperatures) before priming. For maximum corrosion protection on bare metal repairs, apply epoxy primer before filler, then primer-surfacer over the finished repair.
